The Public Square Forum™ is dedicated to reflecting Jesus in our communities through conversations of consequence. Through a variety of relevant discussions around race relations, science and faith, friendship, technology, work burnout and more, we seek to connect with those who do not yet know the Lord.
In this way, all faiths or none are welcome. Everyone’s a learner and everyone a teacher. The Public Square Forum™ is just as impactful on practicing followers of Jesus as they are provided an opportunity to live their faith in a way that extends dignity and respect to those who may be very different.
But will they “come to Christ?” While that is our hope, that is up to the Holy Spirit. We seek to reflect Jesus, extend common grace, and serve our communities by helping them discuss the critical issues of our day – beyond what the headline say.
We can think of this type of evangelism and connection as a progression of four tables:
- The work table – or the desk
- The cafe table
- The dinner table
- The Lord’s table
The Engel Scale is another way of thinking this through. You’ll notice that the Public Square Forum™ allows for contact at step three as few folks are wandering into church these days. Others actively avoid Christians:
The Public Square Forum™ seeks to demonstrate the gospel message of Jesus through the quality of our relationships with people outside the church and by the authentic, transparent way we respond and speak about the issues of our day from out of a framework of truth.
